How Learning Revit Is Useful For Architects And Civil Engineers?

Image
AutoCAD is the basic core program most civil engineers and architects need as working knowledge. However, having knowledge of other vital software such as Autodesk Revit and STAAD Pro is extremely useful to other disciplines which can make a student more valuable at his/her workplace. As far as AutoCAD is concerned, heading into civil engineering design requires its knowledge along with civil 3D without any doubt. This program lets you produce high-quality plan sets. Autodesk Revit is an architectural design and documentation software frequently used by architects and other building professionals. Using BIM instead of CAD enables the creation of a precise, detailed building model in a short time. Is Revit Essential for Architects & Civil Engineers? Learning something different is always beneficial. All these years’ architects and civil engineers have been using AutoCAD in their professional commitments. However, with the technology now advanc

3D AutoCAD Tutorial: Create a 3D piston Designing

Image
This is a guest post by Viktor Rask, founder of CAD Mode and author of the e-book 101 CAD Exercises – Learn & Improve Your Skills . He is a mechanical engineer (BSc.) with a passion for CAD and 3D! He also loves to help others grow. When I first started to learn CAD a few years back, I had a major problem with my learning process. I couldn’t find any exercise material. I searched and searched but couldn’t find anything useful. I decided to create the 101 CAD Exercises book to help others speed up their learning process and make it more hands-on and fun. If you want more exercises like this, you can get them here . (The exercises are 2D and 3D drawings without instructions so that they are not specific to AutoCAD.) In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a piston using 3D geometry in AutoCAD. To do this you will use the 2D drafting and annotations and the 3D features. I assume that you are already a bit familiar with the basic 2D drawing commands such as LINE, CIRC

Slim down your drawings with the PURGE command

Image
Are your drawings bloated for no obvious reason? When you insert a block, is there a long list of blocks that aren’t in the drawing? Ditto for layers? Oversized drawings load more slowly, take up more storage space, and take longer to save. Then you need the PURGE command! Yes, you want slim drawings Definitions of blocks, layers, styles, and more that aren’t actually used in the drawing make it slow and cumbersome. The PURGE command finds named components that aren’t used and lets you delete them. In a complicated drawing, there can be dozens or even hundreds of unused layers, blocks, text styles, dimension styles, and more. To start the PURGE command, choose Application Button, Drawing Utilities, Purge or just type purge on the command line. The Purge dialog box opens. Components that have unused items have a plus sign next to them. In this figure, you can see that there are unused blocks, dimension styles, layers, and line types. You can expand these items to see w

Generation of Animation Applications and their Utilization in Current Scenario

Image
Computer animation is the process used for generating animated or moving images using computer graphics. Animators are artists who specialize in the creation of animation. Nowadays, there are many factors to take into consideration when looking into a 3D animation software package. Most software provides plenty of features which are beneficial for professionals while allowing room to grow for newcomers. History of Animation Early digital computer animation was developed in the 1960s at Bell Telephone Laboratories by Edward E. Zajac, Frank W. Sinden, Kenneth C. Knowlton, and A. Michael Noll. 1973: An early step in the history of computer animation was the sequel to the film Westworld, a science-fiction film about a society in which robots live and work among humans 1976: The sequel, Futureworld, used the 3D wire-frame imagery, which featured a computer-animated hand and faces both created by University of Utah graduates, Edwin Catmull and Fred Parke. 1994: The very firs

The advantages and disadvantages of the animation technology in education and training

Introduction People are always looking for new ways to educate their children. If they are having fun, they learn better. Computer animation can be used to make very exciting and fun animations into which education and training can easily be incorporated. It is much more interesting to learn math for example when the letters are nice and colorful and flying around your TV screen instead of solving problems on plain black and white paper. Other subjects such as science, English, foreign language, music, and art can also be thought of using computer animation. Instructors can also use computer animation to demonstrate things visually exactly how they want to since they have control of every aspect of the animation. It can be used to show how things come together and work together. In science, for example, the computer animation might be used to show how our solar system works, and in math, a computer animation might show a student how one can algebraically manipulate the specifi

Process to Import PDF Files as AutoCAD Geometry in AutoCAD 2017

Image
Many AutoCAD users use PDF files in their everyday workflows, exporting them to share design content for review and importing them into AutoCAD files to add valuable existing content to designs without recreation of content. These additional capabilities, however, have always come with some restrictions. Displaying content and controlling it is possible with Object Snap and Layer Display settings (at time of creation of PDF and if it is setup properly), changing geometry within AutoCAD software was not possible earlier. AutoCAD 2017 finally has come up with a solution and made this much-needed change. How to Import PDF into a Drawing as Geometry? Newly improved Import command now supports importing PDF geometry as AutoCAD objects. Anyone can access this with newly added application option, Import > PDF, or from Insert Ribbon tab inside Insert panel. After Import File dialog box is displayed, the file can be seen which has been recently imported to list of supported file formats.
